La Negrita is a family owned business that started in Puerto Penasco almost 20 years ago. Their business is run out of their family home. Other than moving to a location on Benito Juarez during covid, the location has remained the same. The restaurant has on a dirt street and almost in an non-descript building. Large wooden gates welcome you into an outdoor seating area with basic wooden benches and tables. The kitchen is to the left as you walk in and is a hustle and bustle of activity. There is also an optional indoor, air conditioned seating area as well.
Obviously for many years, La Negrita is known for its Volcanos. An amazing variety of cooked seafood, served in a large Mocajete with an tasteful and spicy broth. Not too spicy. The contents are shrimp, octopus, skirt steak, chicken, scallops, fish. I think there was more but what an amazing meal. We got the large one and two people could not finish.
Breakfast is either normal American fares such as omelettes, eggs, pancakes, bacon. You know the routine. Skip that and go straight to the Special Breakfasts. A play on the normal Mexican breakfast and so good. Stand out was the Comal la negrita. The sauce was so flavorful.
This is a great local, family run place to visit. In fact, this a must to go to when in Rocky Point. You will not be disappointed.
