La Cocina de Regina is a true gem in Puerto Peñasco, offering an authentic taste of Mexico from sunrise to sunset. Whether you stop in for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, every meal here feels like a warm embrace from traditional Mexican home cooking.
Breakfast brings the comforting aromas of freshly made tortillas, rich café de olla, and sizzling chilaquiles topped with crema and queso fresco. Their huevos rancheros and machaca con huevo are standouts—simple, flavorful, and made with care. Omlettes are a stand out. Poblano, Spinich, Shrimp or Chorizo, all are equally good. They also offer a selection of burritos. The Shredded Beef with Chile Colorado was a must have.
Lunch and Dinner are served with the same menu and offers a wide variety of classic dishes, from savory enchiladas and carne asada plates to fresh burritos that reflect the town’s coastal roots. The handmade salsas and guacamole are must-try additions to any meal. The refied beans are some of the best we have had in Puerto Penasco.
Dinner transforms La Cocina de Regina into a cozy, vibrant gathering place. Warm lighting and the sounds of laughter from the staff to customers fill the air as plates of mole, fajitas, and grilled fish are served, each dish bursting with traditional flavors. Pair your meal with a margarita or an agua fresca for the perfect evening experience. We eat here almost weekly and the dish I go to most of the time is the Mocajete Victoria. A sizzling bowl made of volcano rock that contains huge slices of cheese on top, a broth that is fragrant and delicious. It is filled with several different cuts of meat – Carne Asada, Shrimp, Chicken and Chorizo. This can serve two people easily.
The interior of the restaurant is as memorable as the food. The space is filled with the colors of Mexico. Bright reds, deep blues, and sunny yellows that give off a cheerful and welcoming energy. Hand-painted tiles, local artwork, and traditional crafts line the walls, while rustic wooden tables and woven textiles add to the authentic charm. Each corner tells a story of Mexican culture and heritage, making it feel like more than just a meal—it’s an experience.
La Cocina de Regina is a place where tradition, flavor, and art come together beautifully. Whether you’re a local or just visiting Puerto Peñasco, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone who wants to savor genuine Mexican cooking in a setting that celebrates the country’s vibrant spirit.
