After 8 years in business, Rocky Point BBQ House has firmly earned its place as one of Puerto Peñasco’s must-visit food destinations, especially for anyone who appreciates true, slow-smoked barbecue done right.
Owned by Jesus and expertly run day-to-day by manager Bruno, the operation is like a well-tuned pit. The kitchen and bar are handled with care and consistency by Beatrice and Dominic, while the heart and soul of the smoker belongs to Miriam, the Smoke Master and Head Chef. The experience and patience are evident in every bite.
Rocky Point BBQ House does not compromise. They use 100% mesquite wood on a very seasoned offset smoker. Temperatures are maintained at 225 degrees, meaning low and slow. Cook times vary based on the meat but is never rushed. This is authentic barbecue where timing, temperature, and instinct matter more than the clock.
Every major staple here shines. The Brisket (Best Seller) has a deep smoke ring, is juicy, tender and boldly flavored. After tasting, it is impossible to argue anything other than this is the best Brisket in Rocky Point. The Pulled Pork is perfectly textured, enhanced by their house BBQ sauce. The Baby Back Ribs were smoky, meaty, and unforgettable, especially with the right sauce pairing. You can choose but as said, the House BBQ sauce paired perfectly. They are close to fall off the bone, but still had a little bite to it. Competition worthy. The Smoked Sausage (made in house) was flavorful and had a nice snap when biting into it. The supporting players were the Coleslaw and Smoked Beans. Both were excellent and rounded out the plate beautifully.
All meats are sourced from Top Meats in Puerto Peñasco, one of the best butcher shops in town and a trusted favorite for locals who care about quality. Tops Meats is also used by many restaurants in Rocky Point.
The sauce lineup deserves its own spotlight. Each sauce is made from scratch, and each one has a purpose for adding extra flavor and spice to each serving from beans to brisket.
Blackberry/Bourbon: Sweet, smooth, and indulgent
House BBQ Sauce: Balanced and ideal for pulled pork
Chipotle: A touch spicy with rich flavor
Habanero BBQ: Serious heat—bold, intense, and absolutely perfect for any of their meats.
While there is no full bar, they will happily make a margarita or michelada, exactly what you want alongside smoky meats. The atmosphere feels welcoming and unpretentious, the kind of place where regulars are remembered and newcomers are treated like old friends.
Bruno sums it up best with their slogan: “We don’t make customers, we make family.”
At Rocky Point BBQ House, that philosophy shows in the food, the service, and the pride behind the pit. If you’re craving real mesquite smoked barbecue in Puerto Peñasco, this place isn’t just worth visiting, it’s worth returning to again and again.
